Getting ready

A countertop project moves through decisions, measurements, fabrication, and installation. The exact sequence depends on the room and the scope of work, but planning each stage in order helps avoid late changes to materials, fixtures, and layout.

1. Consultation and written quote

Start with a conversation about the room, goals, material preferences, and timing. Motta One’s published process begins with a free in-home estimate and an itemized written quote. Review the scope carefully and ask which work is included, such as removal, plumbing coordination, backsplash, or cabinetry.

2. Material selection

Compare material samples and, for natural stone, review the actual slab before approval. Natural materials vary in color and pattern. Discuss how the layout may use the slab, including prominent veins, seams, and the parts of the surface you most want to feature.

3. Design decisions and field measurement

Confirm cabinetry and supporting structures, appliance and sink selections, edge details, overhangs, and other cutouts. The project team verifies dimensions on site before fabrication. Manufacturer installation guidance commonly requires supporting cabinets or structures to be installed and ready before final measurement.

4. Fabrication

The approved measurements and layout guide cutting and finishing. Seams may be needed depending on the room dimensions, slab size, material, and fabrication plan. Seam placement and appearance should be discussed before fabrication, especially where veining or a book-matched pattern is important.

5. Installation and walkthrough

The team installs the finished pieces and coordinates the work with the room and other trades. Before the appointment, confirm what needs to be cleared, who will be onsite, and whether plumbing reconnection or other follow-up work is handled by Motta One or another provider. Motta One’s published process includes a final walkthrough and care guidance.

Good to know

Keep a written record of approved selections and project details. If you change an appliance, sink, faucet, cabinet, or layout after measurement, tell the project team before work proceeds; the change may affect fit or fabrication.

General guidance only. Your written quote and project-specific instructions from our team take priority.
