Getting ready

A countertop estimate starts with understanding the space and the work you have in mind. You do not need professional measurements before the appointment. A few photos, approximate dimensions, and product details can help the team understand the project and identify questions to review in person.

Gather a few basics

  • Take wide photos of the entire kitchen, bath, or other room, plus closer views of the existing countertop, cabinets, sink, and any areas that need special attention.
  • Write down approximate countertop lengths and depths if you can do so safely. Treat these as conversation starters, not final measurements.
  • List the work you are considering: countertop replacement, new cabinetry, backsplash, removal of existing materials, or a larger remodel.
  • Collect inspiration images and note what you like about them, such as color, veining, a clean edge, or a full-height backsplash.
  • If you have selected appliances, sink, or faucet, save the make and model numbers. Product dimensions and fixture requirements can affect planning and cutouts.

Think through how the room is used

Consider who uses the space, what activities happen there, and what matters most: appearance, ease of cleaning, storage, durability, or a particular budget range. For kitchens, note where you prep, cook, and clean. The National Kitchen & Bath Association’s planning guidance treats countertop work areas, appliance locations, and clearances as parts of a coordinated plan.

Bring questions, not just measurements

Ask what materials fit your use, whether you can view the actual slab, what is included in the written quote, and which decisions need to be finalized before measurement or fabrication. If you are replacing a countertop, ask how removal and disposal are handled and whether any plumbing or electrical work needs to be coordinated separately.

Good to know

Motta One offers free in-home estimates across South Florida. The team can review the room, discuss the project, and prepare an itemized written quote. Final dimensions should be verified by the project team before fabrication.

General guidance only. Your written quote and project-specific instructions from our team take priority.
