Getting ready

Countertop installation involves moving large, heavy pieces through the home and fitting them to prepared cabinets. The installer’s instructions for your specific project take priority. Confirm timing, access, and what work is included before installation day.

Before the appointment

  • Clear items from countertops and remove fragile belongings from the work area.
  • Make a clear path from the entrance to the room. Move rugs, small furniture, and objects that could block access.
  • Confirm that cabinets and other supporting structures are installed and ready, and ask the project team to clarify any support requirements.
  • Have the selected sink, faucet, and appliances available when requested. Their dimensions and templates may be needed to confirm cutouts and fit.
  • Confirm who is responsible for removing the old countertop, disconnecting or reconnecting plumbing, and moving appliances. These tasks should be confirmed in advance rather than assumed.
  • For homes with building rules, confirm elevator reservations, parking, access instructions, and any required certificates with the building or property manager.

During installation

Keep children and pets away from the work zone. The crew needs room to carry and position pieces safely. If an authorized decision-maker needs to approve details onsite, confirm that person’s arrival time with the installer.

After installation

Follow the installer’s instructions about when the countertop can be used, when plumbing can be reconnected, and how to clean the surface. These details depend on the material, adhesives, sealants, and project conditions. Request the care instructions for the exact slab or product and keep them for future reference.

Good to know

A manufacturer’s preparation checklist is a useful reference, but instructions differ by brand and installation agreement. Motta One should provide project-specific requirements before the appointment.
